Parades

8.jpgThe Greater Sudbury Police Services Board enacted a bylaw to regulate parades and processions on highways and to prevent obstruction of the highways during public processions or public demonstrations.

No parade shall be held or allowed to be held until a written application in the prescribed form for permission to hold same is signed by the applicant or person applying on behalf of a group or organization. The application shall be filed with the Office of the Chief of Police at least 28 days prior to the day on which it is proposed to hold such a parade or procession - but such time period may be lessened or waived by the Chief of Police or designate.

The cost of such a permit is $87.00 (including taxes). All parade permits shall be submitted to the Traffic Management Sergeant for approval.

Organizers will be responsible for hiring extra duty officers and have event marshals should the event take place on the travelled portion of the road.

In the event that you wish to organize a community event, the attached form must be completed and returned to police headquarters.
