The Greater Sudbury Police Service in partnership with the Lions Club of Sudbury and the Business Improvement Area (B.I.A.) launched the Lions Eye in the Sky video monitoring project in 1996.

GSPS was the first Service in Ontario and one of the first Services in Canada to use closed-circuit television (CCTV) monitoring.

The Lions Eye in the Sky Program is a system of closed-circuit cameras within our city's downtown core that monitor and record various areas enhancing the safety and security of our Officers and community members.

There are currently 17 cameras located throughout the downtown core.

Lions Eye in the Sky Volunteers operate and monitor these cameras, recording any activity caught on the system. This is a great opportunity for volunteers to work closely with us in our community.

The Lions Eye in the Sky Program has improved Public Safety by assisting us during investigations and alerting our Officers of potentially dangerous situations.
