The Greater Sudbury Police Service currently has 265 sworn Police Officers. Of the 265 sworn members, 121 are assigned specifically to the Uniform Division, which is the backbone of the Police Service. The uniform officers are the most visible members of the police service; they drive marked patrol cars and wear a dark blue Greater Sudbury Police Service uniform. Within the uniform division, officers are separated into platoons, resulting in a rotation divided into day, afternoon, and night shifts.

IMG_0433.jpgUniform officers serve the Greater Sudbury community at the front end of crime by responding to calls for service and emergency situations to which they are generally the first to arrive on scene. Their visible presence on streets, business areas, common community parks, and entertainment areas during their shifts helps to deter crime and assist those in need.

The goals and objectives of the Uniform division are:

  • Respond to emergencies
  • Prevent crimes
  • Enforce law
  • Assist victims
  • Maintain public order
