ITSU investigating serious collision involving mobility scooter on Lloyd Street
Just before 1:40 p.m. on June 29, 2026, officers responded to a serious collision involving a mobility scooter and a pick-up truck at the Lloyd Street crosswalk.
The individual operating the mobility scooter, an 86-year-old man from Greater Sudbury, was transported to hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries. He remains in hospital in critical condition.
The investigation determined that the individual operating the scooter was travelling southbound toward Paris Street within the Lloyd Street crosswalk when the scooter and a pick-up truck collided. The pick-up truck was travelling eastbound from Elm Street onto Lloyd Street.
Based on witness statements and a review of CCTV footage, investigators have confirmed that the individual operating the scooter entered the crosswalk against the pedestrian signal, while the driver of the pick-up truck was proceeding with a green light.
As a result of the investigation, no charges will be laid against the driver of the pick-up truck.
Our thoughts remain with the injured individual, his loved ones, and all those affected by this tragic incident.
