28-year-old man charged with attempt murder after stabbing in wooded area off Leslie Street

Just before 9:00 p.m. on December 11, 2024, officers were dispatched to a wooded area off Leslie Street in relation to a weapons complaint. Information provided was that an individual had been stabbed and required medical attention.

Officers arrived on scene and located a 28-year-old, man who had sustained non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital by Greater Sudbury Paramedics.

Around 9:10 p.m. a second call was received by our 9-1-1 Emergency Communications Centre indicating that a second individual had been stabbed and was currently at an encampment in the area.

Officers attended the scene and located a 36-year-old, man who had sustained serious, life-threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital by Greater Sudbury Paramedics and remains in critical condition.

Based on the investigation, it is believed that the 28-year-old, man and the 36-year-old, man were involved in an altercation leading to the 28-year-old, man stabbing the 36-year-old, man numerous times. This is an isolated incident as the individuals involved are known to each other.

28-year-old, Coty Taylor has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada;

  • Attempt to Commit Murder
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

Coty Taylor was held in custody overnight and attended Bail Court today, December 12, 2024, to answer to the charges.
