33-year-old man arrested and charged after a Robbery at a Regent Street establishment

Just before 11:00 p.m. on July 23, 2026, the Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS) received a call for service regarding a robbery at an establishment on Regent St.

Information provided indicated that a male suspect had entered the establishment and told staff that someone was waiting outside with a firearm before demanding cash. 

The suspect then fled the scene, and police were contacted. Officers attended the scene and, based on the description of the suspect provided, were then able to locate the man just before 11:30 p.m. in the downtown core.

The suspect was arrested without incident. Police were also able to recover a portion of the cash taken during the robbery. Police did not recover a firearm and have no evidence to suggest that a firearm was involved.

As a result, the 33-year-old man from Sudbury has been charged with Robbery. His name cannot be released at this time, as the information has not yet been sworn to through the court process. He remains in police custody and is awaiting a bail hearing to answer to the charge.
