34-year-old woman arrested and charged after Robbery on Lorne Street

Just before 9:50 a.m. this morning, March 21, 2024, officers were dispatched to a store on Lorne Street in relation to a Weapons complaint.

Information provided was that an individual had entered the store, approached the cash, displayed what was believed to be a firearm and demanded money and cigarettes.

No one was physically injured during the interaction.

The individual fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes.

The individual was located on Energy Court and placed under arrest. The cash and alleged firearm have not been located at this time.

The 34-year-old, woman has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada;

  • Robbery with a Weapon
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Pointing a Firearm

She will be held in police custody overnight to attend Bail Court tomorrow, March 22, 2024, to answer to the charges. Her name cannot be released at this time as the information has not yet been sworn to through the court process.
