Barricaded person taken into custody without incident in Wahnapitae

Around 11:45 a.m. on April 10, 2024, officers were dispatched to a residence in Wahnapitae in relation to an individual wanted for a Robbery that occurred on April 5, 2024 at an establishment on Lasalle Boulevard.

When officers arrived on scene, the individual barricaded himself inside the residence.

Patrol officers made multiple attempts to establish communications with the individual inside the residence, however the individual would not respond to police.

Around 12:35 p.m., members of our Emergency Response Unit (ERU) arrived on scene and set-up containment of the residence. During this time, officers applied for and were granted a Feeney Warrant to enter the residence for the purpose of arresting the individual.

At 1:40 p.m., members of ERU made entry into the residence and at 2:20 p.m., officers took the individual into custody without incident.

The youth has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada;

  • Carrying a Concealed Weapon
  • Fail to Comply with Sentence
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition x2
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Robbery with a Weapon
  • Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm

The youth was held in police custody overnight and will attend Bail court today, April 11, 2024, to answer to the charges. The youth’s name cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
