BEAR Unit arrests multiple prolific offenders in series of thefts from L.C.B.O.’s

Over the past two weeks, the Break, Enter and Robbery (B.E.A.R) Unit has arrested multiple individuals believed to be responsible for a significant series of thefts targeting local L.C.B.O. locations. It is believed that the total loss value is over $30,000.

Over the past several months, L.C.B.O. stores across Greater Sudbury have experienced an increase of theft-related incidents. Through a coordinated and intelligence-led investigation, the B.E.A.R. Unit identified several individuals believed to be responsible for repeated, high-value thefts impacting both the business and the community.

Over the course of the investigation, detectives executed targeted enforcement efforts resulting in the arrest of five individuals. Collectively, these individuals are facing 71 charges related to theft and associated offences.

As a result of the investigation, the following individuals have been arrested and charged with offences under the Criminal Code of Canada;

31-year-old, Ahmed Saeed

  • Theft Under $5,000 x2
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 x2

35-year-old, Simon Ryskie

  • Theft Under $5,000 x32
  • Obstruct Police

26-year-old, Logan Daniel

  • Theft Under $5,000 x2
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 x2
  • Breach of Probation x2

44-year-old, Ryan Jewell

  • Theft Under $5,000 x26

15-year-old, young offender

  • Theft Under $5,000 x2
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Breach of Release Order x2

This investigation highlights our commitment to holding offenders accountable and addressing repeat criminal activity. Through close collaboration with the L.C.B.O. as a valued community partner and the use of intelligence-driven strategies, the B.E.A.R. Unit successfully disrupted a series of thefts impacting our community.
