Canada Day 2026 - Science North and Bell Park
Officers from the Greater Sudbury Police Service Integrated Traffic Safety Unit (ITSU) and Patrol Operations will be on patrol again this Canada Day to help regulate the safe flow of pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
Road Closures and Parking Restrictions
Paris Street will be closed from Boland Avenue to Centennial Drive at the conclusion of the drone show and fireworks, with officers on site to provide detour instructions beginning at 9:30 p.m. on July 1, 2026.
Roadways surrounding Bell Park, Science North, Health Sciences North, and nearby intersecting streets will be actively monitored throughout the day/night for prohibited parking. Vehicles parked in restricted areas including grassed areas, sidewalks, driveways, and intersections will be ticketed and/or towed.
Boat Launch and Beach Access
The boat launch and access roads to beach areas off Ramsey Lake Road will also be monitored to ensure access routes remain clear. Please note that the boat launch parking lot is reserved for vehicles with boats only and is not intended for general parking. Enforcement will be in place for any violations.
Emergency Access
Health Sciences North and Ramsey Lake Road will be accessible via Paris Crescent during the Paris Street closure at the conclusion of the drone show and fireworks.
Access to Health Sciences North and all event sites will be maintained for emergency vehicles. Vehicles parked in prohibited areas that interfere with emergency access will be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense.
Transit Options
GOVA Transit will offer shuttle service to and from Science North from Southridge Mall and the Downtown GOVA Transit Depot every 30 minutes, from 11:45 a.m. to 9:45 p.m. The fare is $1 per person and includes the return trip.
With limited parking available, residents are encouraged to use public transit or carpool to help reduce congestion and avoid parking infractions.
Please take your time when arriving at and departing from Canada Day celebrations. Be patient, follow all traffic laws and directions from officers, and use designated crosswalks for your safety and the safety of others.
We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Canada Day. Drive safely and always drive sober.
