DEU arrest individual from Southern Ontario in connection to drug trafficking activities in downtown core
This summer, members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) received information regarding suspected drug trafficking activities in the downtown core.
On August 5, 2026, DEU investigators observed an individual believed to be in possession of illicit drugs leave a downtown address on an electric scooter and travel to an address on Kathleen Street.
The individual was subsequently arrested by detectives and searched incident to arrest. During the search, officers seized:
- Approximately 30 grams of pre-packaged cocaine
- Two cell phones
- $105 in cash
The estimated street value of the drugs seized is approximately $3,000.
Investigators also determined that the individual is currently before the courts in Peel Region on outstanding charges and is subject to release conditions requiring him to reside in Brampton.
As a result of the investigation, 25-year-old Dashawn Rouse of Southern Ontario has been charged with the following offences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and the Criminal Code of Canada:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Failure to comply with a release order
Dashawn Rouse was held in custody overnight and appeared in bail court on August 6, 2026, to answer to the charges.
As Dashawn Rouse has no ties to the City of Greater Sudbury, police requested that the court impose a condition prohibiting him from returning to Greater Sudbury except for court-related purposes.
