Motorcycle driver charged with impaired after dangerous driving incident

Shortly before 2:40 a.m. on October 11, 2026, the Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS) received a traffic complaint regarding a motorcycle carrying a passenger that was being operated in an erratic manner on Notre Dame Avenue. Information provided to police indicated the motorcycle was swerving across the roadway, preventing another vehicle from passing, and driving dangerously close to it.

A short time later, officers observed the motorcycle travelling at a high rate of speed and proceeding through red lights. Due to the erratic behaviour of the driver and dangerous operation of the motorcycle, officers did not attempt to stop the motorcycle.

Around 2:50 a.m., GSPS was notified that the motorcycle had been involved in a collision on Elm Street at the Beatty Street/Regent Street intersection. Officers attended the scene and determined the motorcycle had proceeded through a red light before striking another vehicle.

The driver of the motorcycle was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.

As a result of the investigation, officers determined the driver was impaired at the time of the collision.

26-year-old, Jordan Morrow from Greater Sudbury has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada and the Highway Traffic Act (HTA):

  • Dangerous Operation
  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation While Impaired (Blood Alcohol Concentration Over 80 mg)
  • Stunt Driving

The accused's driver's licence was suspended for 90 days, and the motorcycle was impounded. Jordan Morrow appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court on October 11, 2026, to answer to the charges.

GSPS reminds motorists that impaired and dangerous driving behaviours continue to pose a serious risk to our community. Anyone who observes unsafe driving is encouraged to contact police when it is safe to do so.
