Officers investigating fatal snowmobile collision North of Hanmer

Shortly after 11:25 p.m. on March 6, 2025, officers were dispatched to a serious single vehicle collision involving a snowmachine on Stop Trail Plan 56 on North Range Mine Road, approximately four kilometres North of Nelson Road in Hanmer.

Upon arrival, officers located a deceased 55-year-old, man. Our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends. His name will not be released out of respect for his family’s wishes.

Based on the preliminary investigation, it is believed that the driver failed to negotiate a curve on the trail, lost control of the snowmachine and was ejected.

The Integrated Traffic Safety Unit is investigating the collision and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
