Police investigating suspicious incident at Mallard's Landing

Just after 12:00 p.m. on June 23, 2026, the Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS) received a report of a suspicious individual in the area of Mallard’s Landing in Greater Sudbury. Information indicated that a man had been hiding in the bushes along the trail and had jumped out while yelling at people walking by, causing significant fear and concern.


A local school board notified GSPS, given that students frequently use the trail system in that area.
GSPS treats all reports of suspicious behaviour with high priority. Officers responded immediately, and the situation continues to be closely monitored to ensure the safety of the community.


Police have identified the man involved, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Students and community members are encouraged to use the buddy system when walking or using trail networks and to remain aware of their surroundings at all times.
