4th annual Truth and Reconciliation Relay
Today, in partnership with Shkagamik-Kwe Health Centre, we proudly hosted the official media launch for our 4th annual Truth and Reconciliation Relay.
This initiative seeks to raise awareness of the lasting trauma and profound loss caused by Residential Schools, while also deepening community understanding of the Calls to Action issued by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada.

Residents and visitors should expect a significant presence of police personnel and trained volunteers throughout the day.

Missing person 39-year-old, Parisa located deceasedDEU detectives seize loaded handgun and $63,000 worth of drugs during warrantOn May 22, 2025, detectives from the Greater Sudbury Police Service Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) concluded an investigation into individuals from Southern Ontario wanted on outstanding arrest warrants.
As a result of the investigation, detectives with the assistance of the Emergency Response and K9 Units executed a warrant to enter a dwelling on Whittaker Street.

Officers arrest 27-year-old, man for murder – Lansdowne Street HomicideUPDATE 3
Through the ongoing investigation into the murder of the 21-year-old, man on Lansdowne Street on April 6, 2025, officers identified the person believed to be responsible for the attack. Detectives in the Major Crime Section of our Criminal Investigation Division applied for and were granted an arrest warrant for 27-year-old, Joseph Alba from Southern Ontario.
