UPDATE 2 – Driver of boat charged - Lake Nepahwin fatalityUPDATE 2
As a result of the investigation into the boating fatality on August 1, 2025, on Lake Nepahwin that claimed the life of a 52-year-old, woman (swimmer), members of the Integrated Traffic Safety Unit have charged the 67-year-old, man driving the boat with Operate Vessel in Unsafe Manner under the Canada Shipping Act.
The individual has been issued a summons to appear in court on December 2, 2025, to answer to the charge.

On October 4, 2025, 26-year-old, Romaine Sam was taken into custody on the strength of the arrest warrant for Second Degree Murder x2 at the Pearson International Airport by members of the Canadian Boarder Services Agency (CBSA). Through the investigation it was determined that Romaine Sam fled to Southern Ontario shortly after the double homicide occurred and then left the country prior to being identified.

Between January 1 and August 27, 2025, officers conducted 2,189 focused patrols and responded to 6,189 calls for service.
