63-year-old, arrested and charged with Child Pornography offences
In May, the Greater Sudbury Police Service Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit received information from the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) in relation to an individual believed to be accessing child exploitation material in Greater Sudbury.
On July 3, 2024, the ICE and Computer Forensics Units executed a Search Warrant at a residence in Greater Sudbury where computer devices were seized from the residence.

Berrio on the Sandbanks 2024On Saturday, July 20th 2024, Larry Berrio in partnership with Tourism Ontario will be hosting the annual Berrio on the Sandbanks at Lake Wanapitei.
The Greater Sudbury Police Service, Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, Anishinabek Police Service, as well as Ontario Park Wardens will be on site, patrolling the water and shore to ensure the safety of all those in attendance.

Since 2009, the Greater Sudbury Police Service Rural Community Response Unit has been hosting this event to build positive relationships with youth in our community through outdoor activity.

GSPS Diversity Advisory Committee Presents Bursaries to Four Local StudentsEach year, our Diversity Advisory Committee (DAC) recognizes outstanding grade 12 students in Sudbury who have demonstrated a commitment to diversity, inclusive practices and cultural acceptance in their school and/or in their community.
This year, DAC awarded one bursary of $1,000 to a student from each of the four school boards within the City of Sudbury, totaling $4,000.

Officers seize $10,000 in illicit drugs and CEWOn July 1, 2024, Detectives from the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) concluded an investigation regarding an individual believed to be trafficking illicit drugs in Greater Sudbury. Officers from patrol operations, assisted by DEU arrested an individual on Lorne Street for breaching a court-issued release order.

Canada DayOfficers from the Greater Sudbury Police Service Traffic Management Unit and Patrol Operations will be on patrol again this Canada Day regulating the safe flow of pedestrian and vehicular traffic. Roadways around Bell Park, Science North, Health Sciences North and several intersecting streets will be monitored for prohibited parking.
