  • 2023 Community and Police Awards Gala - Award Recipients

    On May 17, 2023, the Greater Sudbury Police Service hosting the 2023 Community and Police Awards Gala at the Caruso Club.

    The Community and Police Awards Gala provides the Greater Sudbury Police Service with the opportunity to honour police service members, community partners and community members who have demonstrated leadership during incidents that required immediate intervention.

  • 58-year-old man arrested and charged with Sexual Assault-related offences

    In September 2022 and March 2023, the Greater Sudbury Police Service received two separate complaints of Sexual Assault involving the same man. Both incidents involved youths under the age of 16.

  • Sudbury Region Police Museum Reopening

    Thank you to everyone who joined us for the reopening of our Sudbury Region Police Museum last night!

    The Sudbury Region Police museum originally opened in 2002 and was originally spearheaded by Retired Staff Inspector Robert Cowley and Retired Superintendent Emile Lavigne. Using artifacts, photographs and documents, the museum displays the origins, growth and development of the Greater Sudbury Police Service and local law enforcement.

  • GSPS Ribbon Skirt Unveiling

    Many police services across Canada have adopted the ribbon skirt into their Number One Dress Uniform. Today we are pleased to announce that GSPS will be joining the Ontario Provincial Police Indigenous Bureau, Anishinabek Police Service, Treaty Three Police Service, Lakeshore Regional Police Service and the Blood Tribe Police Service as one of the growing number of police services to do so.

  • Requesting assistance to locate 19-year-old Noah Singh - Homicide at Overtime Sports Bar

    We are requesting public assistance to locate 19-year-old, Noah Singh (images attached) as he is wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant for the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada in relation to the homicide at Overtime Sports Bar on April 21, 2023;

    • First Degree Murder (party to the offence)
    • Possession of a Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
    • Conspiracy to Commit Murder
    • Utter Threats
    • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

  • Natalie Hiltz Named As New Deputy Chief of Police for the Greater Sudbury Police Service

    The Greater Sudbury Police Services Board is pleased to announce that Inspector Natalie Hiltz has been selected as the next Deputy Chief of Police for the Greater Sudbury Police Service. 

    Natalie joins the Service in her 28th year of policing after proudly serving the Peel Regional Police Service, most recently as Inspector and officer in charge of Community Safety and Well-Being Services.

  • UPDATE – New images of person believed to be responsible for shooting at Overtime Sports Bar

    UPDATE

    Through the ongoing investigation into the fatal shooting on April 21, 2023 at Overtime Sports Bar in Greater Sudbury that took the life of a 22-year-old man, Detectives have obtained additional images of the person believed to be responsible.

    It is believed that the individual responsible for the shooting is a young person (under the age of 18), therefore Detectives have applied for and been granted permission to release the images pursuant to a judge’s order under Section 110, subsection.

  • Four people arrested and charged in connection to the murder of 31-year-old man

    UPDATE 2

    On April 14, 2023, Detectives from the Major Crime Section of our Criminal Investigation Division located the body of 31-year-old Emad Ali in a wooded area off Dryden Road in Greater Sudbury. Upon locating the body, members of our Search and Rescue Team working in collaboration with North Shore Search and Rescue and GSPS and OPP K9 Units conducted an extensive ground search of the area.
