It has now been two years since the disappearance of Catherine “Wendy”. Our focus remains on locating her and bringing answers to her loved ones, who continue to live with uncertainty and concern.
Around 4:40 p.m. on April 29, 2026, officers were dispatched to a residence on Charette Avenue in relation to a home invasion. Information provided was that an individual attended the residence, forced entry to the home and assaulted a resident inside. The individual then fled in a vehicle prior to police arrival.
The Greater Sudbury Police Service is requesting public assistance to locate 43-year-old, Matthew Francis (image attached) who is wanted on two arrest warrants for the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada;
Just before 5:00 p.m. on April 23, 2026, officers were dispatched to a serious collision involving an electric scooter at the intersection of Godfrey Drive and Park Street in Copper Cliff.
On April 23, 2026, detectives from our Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) concluded an investigation into individuals believed to be trafficking illicit drugs in our community.

Just before 8:45 a.m. on April 21, 2026, an officer observed an electric dirt bike (image of bike and driver attached) without a licence plate being driven erratically on Elgin Street.
Just before 9:55 p.m. on April 16, 2026, officers were dispatched to a serious collision involving a pedestrian on Westmount Avenue at William Avenue.
On March 30, 2026, members of the Integrated Traffic Safety Unit – Specialized Enforcement Unit were conducting a snowmobile spot check on a Sudbury Trail Plan trail in Hanmer, when a snowmachine approached the spot check, however the driver failed to stop when directed by officers. The driver sped off on the snowmachine.
Over the weekend, officers laid multiple impaired driving charges, removing seven impaired drivers from our roads because of proactive patrols, investigative follow‑up, and calls from concerned community members.
