Around 10:40 a.m. on December 16, 2025, officers responded to a Robbery at a convenience store on Elm Street at Beatty Street. A 63-year-old, man (employee) was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after being hit in the head with a bottle and assaulted by the person responsible for incident.

The individual responsible for the Robbery fled on foot prior to police arrival.

Officers from Patrol Operations, the Emergency Response Unit (ERU), K9 Unit and members of the Break Enter and Robbery (B.E.A.R.) Unit arrived on scene. ERU and K9 conducted a track that led to a residential building on Elm Street.

Based on the investigation, officers had reason to believe that the individual involved in the incident was inside the residence. Officers set-up containment of the building and members of the ERU began communicating with the individuals inside the residence.

Around 12:35 p.m., the person believed to be responsible for the Robbery exited the residence and was taken into custody. Officers maintained containment of the residence as it was believed that relevant evidence was inside and the additional individuals inside the home refused to exit.

Members of the B.E.A.R. Unit applied for and were granted a search warrant for the residence. Around 3:45 p.m. officers entered the building and removed the remaining parties from inside the home. Detectives executed the search warrant and located clothing worn by the individual during the commission of the offence.
