
Around 5:20 p.m. on September 25, 2025, officers were dispatched to a residential building on Eva Street in relation to a Neighbour Dispute involving a possible firearm. Information provided was that two residents of the building had been involved in an altercation and one of the residents was believed to be in possession of a firearm.
Officers from Patrol Operations arrived on scene and set-up containment of the building as the individual involved was believed to be inside his unit. Community members in the area were asked to shelter in place, while the other residents of the building were safely evacuated.
Members of the Emergency Response Unit (ERU), K9 Unit and Crisis Negotiations arrived on scene. Officers began communicating with the individual who made it clear that he would not exit the residence.
Detectives from the Major Crime Section applied for a warrant to enter the residence due to public safety concerns surrounding the possible firearm.
Shortly after 1:00 a.m. this morning, September 26, 2025, the warrant was granted through the judicial process. Members of ERU breached the door to the building to gain entry. Upon, breaching the door, the individual threw a television at the officers.
Officers continued to communicate with and deescalate the individual with the goal of a peaceful resolution. Around 2:00 a.m. the individual exited the residence and surrendered to police without incident. Officers cleared the residence, however, a firearm was not located.
The 32-year-old, man has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada;
- Mischief
- Uttering Threats
- Assault with a Weapon
The individual will attend Bail Court today to answer to the charges. His name cannot be released at this time as the information has not yet been sworn to through the court process.
