
Just after 5:15 a.m. this morning, February 9, 2026, officers were dispatched to a mischief in progress on Pine Street. Information provided was that an individual was seen smashing the windows of a vehicle outside a residence. The caller was able to provide officers with a description of the person responsible.
Officers arrived in the area and located an individual matching the description provided. The individual was taken into custody without incident. Upon searching the individual incident to arrest, officers located a tool believed to have been used to smash the vehicle windows, as well as, various stolen items including identification cards, jewelry, vehicle documents and change. It is believed that all these items were taken from numerous vehicles.
During the arrest, it was also discovered that the individual was wanted on three outstanding warrants.
Throughout the investigation, it was learned that at least 20 vehicles had windows smashed along Pine Street, Elm Steet and Oak Street. Anyone in that area who experienced a mischief to their vehicle (windows smashed) or theft from their vehicle overnight is asked to contact our non-emergency number 705-675-9171 to report the incident.
At this time, 34-year-old, John Neville has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada;
- Mischief Under $5,000 x20
- Possession of Break-in Instruments
- Theft Under $5,000
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
John Neville will attend Bail Court today, February 9, 2026, to answer to the charges.
