We were proud to host the 5th Annual "Mooz Akinonmaaget Maa Aki" mentorship program launch this morning.

Rooted in healing, trust, and community, Mooz Akinonmaaget Maa Aki brings Indigenous youth and GSPS members together in a spirit of connection, growth, and respect.

This strength-based, youth-focused initiative – delivered in partnership with Indigenous child welfare agencies, Wiikwemkoong Tourism, Wiikwemkoong Restorative Justice, and supported by Shkagamik-Kwe Health Centre – offers a safe and welcoming space for youth to engage with police through shared experiences grounded in traditional Anishnawbek values.

Over the summer, participants will take part in seven sessions guided by the Seven Grandfather Teachings – supporting their spiritual, emotional, physical, and mental well-being, and creating space for self-reflection, confidence, and trust-building.

This year, we proudly welcome nine new participants and two youth mentors, and continue walking alongside the 31 youth who have already taken part.

Chi-miigwetch to our Elders, Knowledge Holders, mentors, partners – and most importantly, to the youth – for your trust, leadership, and presence. We are honoured to walk this journey with you.
