At approximately 6:50 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, the Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS) responded to a report of a collision involving a train and a pedestrian on Harry Crescent, off Howey Drive.

Patrol Operations officers were first to arrive on scene and located a 41-year-old woman who had sustained fatal injuries. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. Out of respect for the family’s wishes, her identity will not be released. We extend our deepest condolences to her loved ones during this difficult time.

Following the initial response, the GSPS Integrated Traffic Safety Unit (ITSU) and Detectives from our Major Crime Section arrived and assumed control of the investigation. GSPS continues to work in collaboration with the Coroner’s Office. At this time, there is no suspicion of criminality or foul play.

The roadway was closed for approximately three and a half hours while emergency personnel carried out a thorough investigation and ensured the area was safe for reopening. We would like to thank local residents and motorists for their patience and cooperation during the closure.

We also extend our gratitude to Greater Sudbury Paramedic Services and Greater Sudbury Fire Services for their swift response and professional support at the scene.
