Around 7:50 a.m. this morning, September 12, 2025, officers were dispatched to a residence on Balsam Street in Copper Cliff in relation to a Weapons complaint. Information provided was that an individual had shot the complainant’s vehicle with what was described as a gun and then went inside the residence.

Officers attended the area and set up containment of the residence as the individual believed to be responsible was inside. The individual exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident. A second person, not believed to be involved in the incident also exited the residence.

Officers made entry into the residence to ensure no one else was inside. Officers cleared the home. No one else was found inside the residence.

The 50-year-old, man taken into custody has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada;

  • Assault with a Weapon x2
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Pointing a Firearm
  • Using a Firearm in the Commission of an Offence

He will attend Bail Court today, September 12, 2025, to answer to the charges. His name cannot be released at this time as the information has not yet been sworn to through the court process.

This is a targeted incident as the individuals involved are known to each other.

The scene is being held as officers will be applying for a search warrant for the residence. There could be additional charges pending the outcome of the search warrant.

Balsam Street is open to vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
