Incident #1

Just before 10:45 p.m. on December 19, 2025, members of the Integrated Traffic Safety Unit (ITSU) and Patrol Operations were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) check on Municipal Road 80 in Val Caron, when officers witnessed a vehicle turn around prior to reaching the check point to avoid police.

Officers conducted a traffic stop with the motor vehicle and determined the driver to be a prohibited driver related to three separate suspensions including two impaired driving-related convictions with a lifetime driving ban.

Officers administered an Approved Screening Device (ASD) where the driver registered a fail.

During the interaction, officers also noted multiple Highway Traffic Act (HTA) infractions including only one licence plate on the vehicle, no insurance and the driver was in possession of a Driver’s Licence knowing it was suspended.

The driver was arrested and transported to police headquarters where officers located illicit drugs believed to be amphetamines.

As a result of the investigation, 28-year-old, Dylan Milks has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada, the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) and the HTA;

Incident #2

Shortly before 1:50 a.m. on December 21, 2025, officers from our Integrated Traffic Safety Unit (ITSU) observed a vehicle being driven erratically on Notre Dame Avenue.

Officers conducted a traffic stop and upon speaking with the driver, officers determined the driver to be suspended for unpaid fines. Due to the erratic driving behaviour, officers administered an Approved Screening Device (ASD) resulting in an Alert. As the driver holds a G2 licence with a zero tolerance for alcohol while driving and this being the second Alert this driver has received, their licence was suspended for seven days.

Following the interaction, the driver indicated that a family member would being attending the scene to give them a ride home. Shortly after the officer left the scene, the driver got back into the vehicle and left the parking lot, now with two Driver’s Licence suspensions. Upon exiting the parking lot, the driver failed to stop for a stop sign at Bond Street and Notre Dame Avenue prompting another traffic stop from a different officer.

The officer also administered an ASD resulting in an Alert, now for the third time, resulting in a 30-day Driver’s Licence suspension.

As a result of the two separate incidents, the 27-year-old, man has been charged with the following offences under the Highway Traffic Act;

  • Driving while under suspension x3
  • Fail to notify change of address x2
  • Novice driver – blood alcohol concentration above zero x2
  • Disobey stop sign - fail to stop

The vehicle has been impounded for seven days and is being held under Sec 217(2) of the HTA until the matter is disposed in court.

The individual was released with a future court date to answer to the charges. The individual’s name cannot be released at this time as the information has not yet been sworn to through the court process.
