The Internet Child Exploitation (I.C.E.) Unit was recently notified by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security that a person in Greater Sudbury had been accessing and possessing Child Pornography online over a period of several years.

On December 10, 2020, our I.C.E. and Computer Forensics Units in conjunction with our Emergency Response Unit (Tactical) and Intelligence Unit executed Search Warrants at two residences in Greater Sudbury.

As a result of the investigation, 30 year old Justin Philion of Chelmsford was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Access Child Pornography x37
  • Possess Child Pornography x3

He will appear in Bail Court on December 11, 2020 to answer to the charges.

The Greater Sudbury Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit is part of the Ontario Provincial Strategy to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the Internet.  This has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services and Ministry of the Attorney General.
