Around 7:45 a.m. officers responded to an Ambulance Assistance call in the area of Larch Street at Paris Street. Upon arrival officers located a 49-year-old man who had sustained serious injuries as the result of an assault. He was transported to hospital by City of Greater Sudbury Paramedic Services

Through the investigation it was determined that the original incident occurred inside a residential unit on Cedar Street at Brian McKee Lane.

Members of our Emergency Response Unit (ERU) with assistance from Patrol Operations set-up containment of the building. Just after 8:30 a.m., to check on the well-being and ensure the safety of individuals inside the unit, our ERU made entry into the residence and located five individuals. All five individuals were taken into police custody without incident.

As K9 and ERU officers continued to clear the building, two more people were found hiding inside. Both individuals were taken into custody. While clearing the unit where the five individuals were located, officers found numerous weapons including a rifle, pellet guns and multiple knives.

Based on the investigation, three of the individuals have been released in relation to this matter. The other four individuals, a 41-year-old man, a 48-year-old man, a 49-year-old man and a 58-year-old man have all been charged with Attempt Murder in relation to this incident.

The four individuals will attend Bail Court tomorrow, March 10, 2023 to answer to the charges. Their names cannot be released as the information has not yet been sworn to through the court process.

This is a targeted incident as it is believed that the parties involved are known to each other.
