Just before 6:35 p.m. on April 3, 2025, an officer was driving a marked police cruiser in the area of Paris Street and Brady Street when a vehicle being driven at a high rate of speed went through a red light at the intersection. The officer activated the emergency lights and siren on the cruiser to conduct a traffic stop, however, the driver failed to stop and continued to drive the vehicle between 80-100km/h on Paris Street.
The driver then failed to stop at the red light at the intersection of Paris Street at Van Horne Street, made a left turn onto Van Horne Street and then failed to stop at the stop sign at Howey Drive. The officer discontinued the pursuit out of a concern for public safety due to the driver’s aggressive driving behaviour.
A short time later, the vehicle struck a snowbank on Morris Street and the driver fled the scene on foot. Officers in the area saw the individual get into another vehicle on Howey Drive. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and found the individual inside the car.
20-year-old, Florent Koffi was arrested and charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada and Highway Traffic Act;

- Dangerous Operation of a Vehicle
