Around 4:40 p.m. on April 29, 2026, officers were dispatched to a residence on Charette Avenue in relation to a home invasion. Information provided was that an individual attended the residence, forced entry to the home and assaulted a resident inside. The individual then fled in a vehicle prior to police arrival.

While responding to the incident, officers were provided with a description of the vehicle and the direction of travel. Officers located the vehicle on MR35 and conducted a traffic stop. When officers approached the vehicle and asked the driver for identification, the driver refused and sped off in the vehicle at a high rate of speed. Officers did not pursue the vehicle due to concerns about public safety and the erratic behaviour of the driver.

A short time later, officers were alerted to a single vehicle collision on MR35 near Marier Street involving the same vehicle. Upon locating the driver, the individual displayed signs of impairment. The individual was placed under arrest after a brief struggle with officers.

The individual was transported to headquarters where a Breath Technician obtained two breath samples well over the legal limit.
