Around 4:50 p.m. on May 4, 2025, officers were dispatched to a property on Van Horne Street in relation to a weapons complaint. Information provided was that a group of individuals were seen in the park armed with what were believed to be firearms.
Officers arrived in the area and located the individuals matching the descriptions provided. Officers saw that one of the individuals appeared to be carrying a firearm. The four individuals were arrested without incident.
A search incident to arrest of the individuals, resulted in officers locating three pellet guns with ammunition, brass knuckles and knives, as well as, around 64 grams of what is believed to be fentanyl, 7 grams of what is believed to be crack cocaine and close to 2 grams of what is believed to be cocaine. Officers also located $1,395 in cash.
48-year-old, John Byck and 29-year-old, Harley-Lynn Sampson have been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA):
- Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose peace or commit,
- Failure to comply with order,
- Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon,
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance x2
46-year-old, Misty Plume has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA):
- Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose peace or commit,
- Failure to comply with order,
- Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon,
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance x2,
- Possession of Firearm/Weapon contrary to a Prohibition Order
43-year-old, Vincent Marconato has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA):
- Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose peace or commit,
- Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon,
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance x2
- Breach of Probation Order,
- Possession of Firearm/Weapon contrary to a Prohibition Order x2
All four individuals were held in police custody overnight and will attend bail court today, May 5, 2025, to answer to the charges.
