Around 10:00 p.m. on May 21, 2025, our 9-1-1 Emergency Communications Centre (ECC) received a call from a City of Greater Sudbury Municipal Law Enforcement Officer regarding a structure fire at a vacant building on Paris Street.

Greater Sudbury Fire Services were dispatched to the scene to extinguish the fire while GSPS officers were dispatched to provide traffic control while firefighters were on scene.

Additional information provided was that multiple individuals were seen running from the building towards Bell Park shortly before smoke was seen coming from the building.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, however, there was substantial damage to the building.

Detectives from the Major Crime Section of our Criminal Investigation Division are working in collaboration with the Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
