Around 11:00 p.m. on August 11, 2025, officers were dispatched to a stabbing near the intersection of Elm Street at Durham Street. Information provided was that an individual was located with what were believed to be stab wounds and required immediate medical attention.
Officers arrived on scene and located a 41-year-old man who had sustained what are believed to be multiple stab wounds. The individual was transported to hospital where he remains in critical condition.
While officers were responding to the incident on Elm Street, a second call was received by our 9-1-1 Emergency Communications Centre regarding a second individual who had sustained what were believed to be stab wounds in the area of Energy Court.
Officers arrived on scene and located a 23-year-old man who had sustained what are believed to be stab wounds. The individual was transported to hospital where he remains in stable condition.
Based on the investigation thus far, it is believed that the injured individuals were involved in separate altercations with the same group of people prior to being stabbed. It is believed that the separate attacks took place where the injured individuals were located by police.
Around 12:30 a.m. on August 12, 2025, officers located one of the individuals believed to be responsible for the attacks on Elm Street. The 17-year-old, young man was taken into custody without incident. He has been charged with Attempt Murder (x2), Disguise with Intent (x2), Weapons Dangerous (x2) and Fail to Comply with Release Order (x2). His name cannot be released as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
At this time, it is believed that three additional individuals were involved in the incidents. The three individuals remain outstanding.
These were targeted incidents as the individuals involved are known to each other.
