Incident #1

At 4:40 a.m., officers were dispatched to Lasalle Boulevard at Attlee Avenue in relation to a serious collision involving a pedestrian. The driver and the vehicle involved remained on scene.

Greater Sudbury Fire Services and Paramedic Services were also dispatched to the scene. The individual was transported to hospital by paramedics with serious, life-threatening injuries. Unfortunately, the 39-year-old, woman was pronounced deceased at the hospital by medical professionals.

Our deepest condolences go out to her family and friends. Her name will not be released out of respect for her family’s wishes.

Attlee Avenue and Lasalle Boulevard are now open. The investigation into the collision is ongoing.

Anyone with dash camera footage who was driving in the area at the time of the collision or anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact police at 705-675-9171.

 

Incident #2

Around 6:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to an unknown trouble on Maley Drive in the area of the Notre Dame Avenue on-ramp. Information provided was that a motorist had located what was believed to be a deceased individual on the roadway. The caller was not involved in the original incident.

Officers attended the scene and located the individual who they confirmed to be deceased. The identity of the individual has not yet been confirmed.

The driver and vehicle involved in the collision originally left the scene, however, the driver has since been identified and the vehicle has been located.

The Notre Dame Avenue on-ramp to Maley Drive and the eastbound lanes of Maley Drive in the area of Notre Dame Avenue will remain closed for an undetermined amount of time while officers are on scene.
