
On January 10, 2026, officers in Patrol Operations began an investigation into an individual believed to be unlawfully in possession of multiple firearms.
Based on the investigation, detectives in the Major Crime Section applied for and were granted a search warrant for a residence on Elbow Lake Road in Estaire.
Members of Patrol Operations executed the search warrant and located a handgun, a revolver and a rifle, as well as, 83.9 grams of what is believed to be cocaine, drugs trafficking items and approximately $150,000 in cash. The estimated value of the drugs seized is $8,390.
As a result of the investigation, 55-year-old, David Castonguay has been charged with the following offences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) and Criminal Code of Canada;
- Unauthorized Possession of Firearm x3
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm x3
- Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammo x2
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order
- Careless Use of Firearm
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
David Castonguay attended Bail Court on January 12, 2026, to answer to the charges.
