The Greater Sudbury Police Service Break, Enter and Robbery (B.E.A.R) Unit remains committed to community safety and well-being through proactive policing, intelligence-led enforcement, and strengthening partnerships that enhance public safety across Ontario. Recently, the BEAR Unit has been involved in high-profile investigations and arrests, identifying and apprehending prolific offenders responsible for violent and property-related crimes in our community and across the province.

Incident #1

In October 2025, members of the BEAR Unit assisted the Durham Regional Police Service (DPRS) with an ongoing criminal investigation involving an individual who was wanted for violent firearm-related offences and who was believed to be in our jurisdiction.

BEAR Unit detectives located the individual in Greater Sudbury and conducted surveillance. As it was determined that the individual was leaving our jurisdiction, the BEAR Unit collaborated with members of the DRPS Offender Management Team to arrest 28-year-old, Keshon Leslie in Southern Ontario. During the arrest, officers located and seized a loaded firearm, a large sum of cash and approximately $4,000 of Cocaine. He attended court in Southern Ontario to answer to the charges.

Incident #2

On October 27, 2025, an individual attended a local car dealership to test drive a vehicle. After the test drive, the individual attempted to steal the vehicle. Employees of the dealership were able to stop the individual from leaving in the vehicle.

The individual became irate causing employees to flee inside the dealership. The individual forced his way into the dealership where he stole the keys to another vehicle and drove away in the stolen vehicle.

Detectives from the BEAR Unit, immediately responded to the area and with the assistance of Patrol Operations, officers were able to box in the stolen truck.

21-year-old, Cheikh Abdoul Ngom of Greater Sudbury was arrested and charged with several property related offences including Break and Enter, Theft of Motor Vehicle X2 and Mischief. He was held in police custody overnight and attended bail court on October 28, 2025, to answer to the charges.
