cocaineThe Provincial Joint Forces Guns and Gangs Enforcement Team (PGNG), in partnership with the Greater Sudbury Police Service and with assistance from the Durham Regional Police, has arrested six people after identifying a drug trafficking operation reaching from the Greater Toronto Area to Sudbury.

The PGNG and Greater Sudbury Police Service began the investigation in August of 2022.

On March 29, 2023 search warrants were executed in Sudbury, Toronto and Ajax, resulting in the seizure of approximately 2.7-kilograms of cocaine, nearly 300 grams of fentanyl, a loaded, nine millimetre magazine, over $97,000 in Canadian currency and $1000 in counterfeit currency.                     

fentanylSix individuals were arrested without incident and all face numerous charges under the Criminal Code (CC) and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).

All of those arrested, including Paige LEMIEUX, age 27 of Alfred and Lenin GAMARRA, age 30 of Ajax have been charged with:

  • Conspiracy to commit an indictable offence – (CC) sec. 465(1)(c)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – COCAINE - CDSA sec. 5(2)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – FENTANYL - CDSA sec. 5(2)

 

Additionally, the following accused are charged:

Marlon GAMARRA, age 28 of Ajax

  • Proceeds of crime – CC sec. 354(1)(a)
  • Possession of a prohibited device – extended magazine – CC sec. 92(2)
  • Possession of counterfeit money CC sec 450(b)

Stephen MALABRE-PATRICK, age 31 of Ajax

  • Proceeds of crime – CC sec. 354(1)(a)
  • Possession of a prohibited device – extended magazine – CC sec. 92(2)
  • Breach Prohibition Order – CC sec. 117.01(1)

Donte BROWN, age 29 of Ajax

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – CDSA sec. 5(1) -six counts
  • Proceeds of Crime – CC sec. 354(1)(a)

Marcell GAYLE, age 29 of Pickering

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – CDSA sec. 5(1) – seven counts
  • Proceeds of Crime – CC sec. 354(1)(a)
  • Possession of a prohibited device – extended magazine – CC sec. 92(2)

All of the accused were held in custody and are scheduled to appear for bail hearings today before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury.

The investigation is ongoing.
