On October 2, 2020, a man entered a local car dealership on the Kingsway looking to test drive a vehicle. The man was given the key to a vehicle in the dealership parking lot in order to take the vehicle for a test drive. The vehicle was blocked in by another vehicle in the lot and when the employee returned to check on the man, the man had left and the employee found the key inside the vehicle.

At some point on October 2, 2020 the man returned and stole the vehicle as the key he had previously left behind was nearly identical, however not the actual key to the vehicle.

Last week, the missing vehicle was involved in a pursuit in another jurisdiction being driven by the man believed to be responsible for stealing it. Police later recovered the unoccupied vehicle.

An Arrest Warrant for 59 year old Mark Lucas (image attached) has been granted in relation to the stolen vehicle. Due to the increased risk to Public Safety based on his complete disregard for Road Safety and flight from Police, we are requesting the Public’s assistance to locate him.

Dealership and car lot owners and employees are reminded to be extra vigilant when keys are returned after a test drive ensuring that the keys are for that vehicle.
