Through the investigation it has been determined that the SUV struck the transport resulting in the driver of the SUV losing control of the vehicle.

We are looking to speak with the driver of the transport in relation to the incident, as well as, the driver of the vehicle who was almost hit by the SUV when it crossed the centre line into oncoming traffic.

The investigation into the collision is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the TMU at 705-675-9171 extension 2421.

ORIGINAL

Around 6:50 a.m. on March 20, 2023, a SUV and a transport truck (cab only, no trailer - image attached), both traveling North towards Val Caron, were involved in a collision on MR80 near Donaldson Crescent in McRae Heights. As a result of the collision, the driver of the SUV lost control, crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a hydro pole.

The driver of the SUV, a 46-year-old man sustained life-threatening injuries and was extricated from the vehicle by City of Greater Sudbury Fire Services prior to being transported to the hospital by City of Greater Sudbury Paramedic Services.

The Greater Sudbury Police Service Traffic Management Unit (TMU) is currently investigating the incident.

We are requesting the public’s assistance in locating the transport truck (image attached) involved in the initial collision and identifying the driver of the truck at the time of the collision. Officers are also looking to speak with the driver of a vehicle that was almost hit by the SUV when it travelled into oncoming traffic prior to striking the hydro pole.
