Around 9:50 a.m. on April 30, 2020, a City of Greater Sudbury Paramedic Services ambulance with emergency lights and siren activated was en route to a priority medical call. The ambulance was travelling Northbound on MR 35 South of Marier Street in Azilda when a Black Honda Fit travelling at a high rate of speed rear ended the ambulance causing the car to leave the roadway into the ditch.

The collision resulted in minor injuries to those involved and required an additional ambulance to be dispatched to the original medical emergency.

Our Traffic Management Unit is currently investigating the incident and is asking that anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw the Black Honda Fit leading up to the collision to contact Constable Weber at 705- 675-9171 extension 6715.

We would also like to remind drivers of the legal requirement to immediately pull to the right and stop when it is safe to do so if you encounter any emergency vehicle with emergency lights activated. Those failing to move over for emergency vehicles can be charged under the Highway Traffic Act and face a set fine of $400.00 and three demerit points.
