UPDATE 2

On April 23, 2025, members of our Emergency Response Unit (ERU) and Integrated Crime Section identified and located a vehicle believed to be occupied by an individual wanted on multiple outstanding arrest warrants. Just before 7:30 p.m. members of ERU conducted a high-risk traffic stop on Edgehill Drive and located the individual hiding in the back seat.

Upon searching the individual incident to arrest, officers located a loaded handgun with extended magazine, 264 grams of Cocaine, 750 grams of Methamphetamine, 36 grams of Fentanyl, 89 Oxycocet tablets and over $2,200 in cash. The estimated street value of the drugs is $45,400.

As a result of the traffic stop, 28-year-old, Eron Rochester aka Ghost from Southern Ontario has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada and the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA);

  • Possession for Dangerous Purpose
  • Unauthorized Possession
  • Firearm Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession
  • Unauthorized Possession in Motor Vehicle
  • Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Carry Concealed Weapon
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000.00
  • Possession of Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking x4
  • Breach of Release Order x3

Further, Eron Rochester has been charged with Attempt Murder in relation to the incident on Notre Dame Avenue on March 25, 2025, and Attempt Murder in relation to the shots fired on Bond Street on January 22, 2025.

Eron Rochester was held in police custody overnight and will attend Bail Court today, April 24, 2025, to answer to the charges.

 

UPDATE

Through the investigation, officers have obtained an image of the person believed to be responsible for the shooting in the area of Lasalle Boulevard and Notre Dame Avenue on March 25, 2025.

The individual is described as a Black man who was wearing a face covering at the time of the shooting and an image of him shortly after the incident took place is attached.

Officers continue to review video surveillance footage and canvas for additional information and video.

ORIGINAL

Just before 8:00 p.m. on March 25, 2025, the Greater Sudbury Police Service received a call regarding a weapons complaint that occurred in the area of Lasalle Boulevard and Notre Dame Avenue. Information provided was that an individual had been shot and was being transported to the hospital by a community member.

Officers attended the hospital and spoke with the 35-year-old, man from Greater Sudbury who had sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Through the investigation it is believed that the 35-year-old, man was shot while he was the passenger in a 2024, Black Ford F-150, being driven by an unidentified man in the area of Lasalle Boulevard and Notre Dame Avenue. The suspect fled in the vehicle prior to police being called.

The vehicle believed to be involved in the incident was located unoccupied in the downtown core.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
