UPDATE

Through the ongoing investigation into the fatal collision on Maley Drive on November 5, 2025, officers have identified the deceased pedestrian as a 37-year-old, woman from Greater Sudbury.

Our deepest condolences go out to her family and friends. Her name will not be released out of respect for her family’s wishes.

Yesterday afternoon, November 5, 2025, officers arrested and charged the 23-year-old, woman believed to be responsible for the collision. She has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada and the Highway Traffic Act (HTA);

  • Failure to Stop for an accident resulting in death
  • Operating an unsafe vehicle
  • No clear view to front of vehicle

She was released on an undertaking with a court date of January 14, 2026, to answer to the charges. Her name cannot be released as the information has not yet been sworn to through the court process.

 

ORIGINAL

Around 6:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to an unknown trouble on Maley Drive in the area of the Notre Dame Avenue on-ramp. Information provided was that a motorist had located what was believed to be a deceased individual on the roadway. The caller was not involved in the original incident.

 

Officers attended the scene and located the individual who they confirmed to be deceased. The identity of the individual has not yet been confirmed.

The driver and vehicle involved in the collision originally left the scene, however, the driver has since been identified and the vehicle has been located.

The investigation into the collision is ongoing. Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to contact police at 705-675-9171.
