UPDATE – Detectives continue to investigate suspicious death in Bell Park on July 31, 2024

UPDATE 2

Based on the results of the postmortem and ancillary tests conducted through the Coroner’s Office, it has been determined that the injuries sustained by 36-year-old, Pat Forgues cannot be explained therefore his death is being investigated as a homicide. Through the postmortem it was confirmed that he suffered significant internal injuries that were not self-inflicted.

36-year-old, Pat Forgues was located deceased by Paramedic Services on July 31, 2024, near the large gazebo, Northeast of the Grace Hartman Amphitheatre at Bell Park.

Detectives in the Major Crime Section of our Criminal Investigation Division continue to work in collaboration with the Coroner’s Office to investigate this suspicious death.

UPDATE

Detectives of our Criminal Investigations Division continue to investigate the death that occurred in Bell Park on July 31st, 2024.

Police have confirmed the identity of the individual who was located deceased as 36-year-old Pat Forgues. With the family’s permission, the Greater Sudbury Police Service is releasing his name in order to obtain additional information to progress the investigation.

Police are asking anyone who may have had interactions with Pat Forgues on the evening of July 30th, 2024, to please come forward. Police are also asking anyone who was present at Bell Park in the early morning hours of July 31st, 2024, to come forward.

Anyone with information relating to this matter is asked to call the Greater Sudbury Police Service at 705-675-9171.

Our deepest condolences and thoughts remain with the family of the deceased during this difficult time.

ORIGINAL

Shortly after 6:00 a.m. officers were dispatched to the area of the large gazebo, Northeast of the Grace Hartman Amphitheatre in Bell Park in relation to an Ambulance Assistance. Information provided was that Greater Sudbury Paramedic Services were on scene for an individual who required medical attention. Upon arrival, paramedics determined that the individual was deceased.

The identity of the individual is currently unknown.  

Detectives from the Major Crime Section of our Criminal Investigation Division are working in collaboration with the Coroner’s Office. A post-mortem will be conducted through the Coroner’s Office to assist in determining the individual’s identity and the cause of death.
