UPDATE

As a result of the ongoing investigation into the fatal collision that took the life of a 23 year old young woman and seriously injured a 31 year old man, the driver of the vehicle, 34 year old, Chad Rienguette has been charged with Dangerous Operation Causing Death and Dangerous Operation Causing Bodily Harm.

He appeared in Bail Court this morning, September 14, 2022 to answer to the charges.

The investigation into the collision is ongoing and anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who may have dash camera footage or other video surveillance footage is asked to contact our Traffic Management Unit at 705-675-9171.

Shortly after 7:35 a.m. this morning, September 13, 2022, Officers were dispatched to a serious collision involving two pedestrians at the intersection of Lasalle Boulevard and Barrydowne Road.

Upon arrival Officers located two pedestrians, a 23 year old woman and a 31 year old man, who had sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision. Both individuals were transported to hospital by City of Greater Sudbury Paramedic Services. Unfortunately, the young woman was pronounced deceased at the hospital by medical professionals. The man remains in the hospital with serious injuries.

The young woman’s name will not be released out of respect for her family’s wishes. Our deepest condolences go out to her family and friends.

The 34 year old man driving the vehicle involved in the collision has been charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
