In June of 2021, our Drug Enforcement Unit (D.E.U) of the Integrated Crime Section working in collaboration with the Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (O.C.E.B.) with assistance from the Criminal Intelligence Service of Ontario (C.I.S.O.) initiated multiple investigations intended to disrupt drug trafficking operations entering and operating within the City of Greater Sudbury.

One of the Drug Investigations identified a group of individuals trafficking illegal drugs including Fentanyl, Cocaine and Methamphetamine in our community.

On August 28 and 29, 2021, this investigation lead to General Search Warrants followed by Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (C.D.S.A.) Search Warrants being executed at an address on Murray Street and at an address on Martindale Road. These Search Warrants resulted in the arrests of six individuals and the seizure of $217,995.00 worth of Fentanyl, Methamphetamine and Cocaine, as well as, the seizure of a 40 caliber hand gun and $24,140.00 in cash.

32 year old, Marlon Carlese-Brown of Barrie, 31 year old, Soulaimon Cadogan of Scarborough, 29 year old, Daniel Cunningham of Greater Sudbury and 27 year old, Kumani Moot of Greater Sudbury have been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance (Fentanyl)
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance (Cocaine)
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance (Hydromorph)
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance (Methamphetamine tablets)
  • Firearm Unauthorized Possession
  • Prohibited/Restricted Firearm w/Ammunition
  • Careless Use of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Firearm Possession Contrary to Order
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

These individuals will appear in Bail Court tomorrow, Wednesday, September 1, 2021 to answer to the charges.

In addition, two 17 year old youths from Greater Toronto area have been charged with;

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule 1 Substance (Cocaine)
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

A portion of this investigation was funded through the Ontario Government, Criminal Intelligence Service Ontario. The Drug Enforcement Unit of the Integrated Crime Team remains committed to working collaboratively with the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau and will continue to focus its efforts on major crime operations that pose a direct and elevated threat to the safety, security and wellness of our community. The Integrated Crime Team aims to identify and disrupt organized crime in Greater Sudbury through innovative technology, collaborative partnerships and traditional Police work resulting in the arrests of those involved, holding them accountable for their criminal activities and the seizure of illegal drugs, prohibited firearms and proceeds of crime.
