Overnight, Officers from our Central Community Response Unit and Patrol Operations Officers conducted focused patrols to address the ongoing issues of Theft from Motor Vehicles, Property Thefts and Break and Enters in specific residential areas. Four Kittens Found in Dumpster on Edmund Street

Around 2:20 a.m. this morning, Wednesday, May 13, 2020, we were called in relation to an animal in distress at an apartment complex on Edmund Street in Greater Sudbury.
Upon arrival Officers were met by the individual who called in the complaint indicating that there were kittens in the dumpster located on the apartment complex property. The kittens could be heard crying and moving inside of the dumpster.

Fatal Single Vehicle Collision on MR 35

Just after 2:30 a.m. this morning, Wednesday, May 6, 2020, we received a call regarding a single motor vehicle collision on MR35 near Gagnon Street. The 2005 Silver Infinity G35 was travelling North on MR 35 towards Azilda when the vehicle left the roadway ending up in the ditch.
There were two individuals in the vehicle at the time of the collision, a 19 year old man and a 21 year old woman.
Both individuals were transported to hospital by Paramedic Services with serious injuries.

Man Arrested and Charged After Robbery at Convenience Store on Notre Dame Avenue

Just after 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 3, 2020, a man entered a convenience store on Notre Dame Avenue and began arguing with the employee at the counter. The man then pulled what was believed to be a firearm from the waistband of his pants and pointed it at the employee. The man exited the store with a package of cigarettes. The employee was not injured during the altercation.

Seeking Witnesses to Collision Involving Ambulance

Around 9:50 a.m. on April 30, 2020, a City of Greater Sudbury Paramedic Services ambulance with emergency lights and siren activated was en route to a priority medical call. The ambulance was travelling Northbound on MR 35 South of Marier Street in Azilda when a Black Honda Fit travelling at a high rate of speed rear ended the ambulance causing the car to leave the roadway into the ditch.
