70 Arrested in India at CRA Phone Scam Call Centr

The Greater Sudbury Police Service would like to advise the public of 70 arrests recently made in India at a call centre that employed 700 people hired to conduct a phone scam internationally where callers also contacted victim’s in Canada and alleged they were a representative of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). The callers from the fraudulent call centre would convince the victim that they owed a large amount of taxes to the CRA, and they would insist on immediate payment from the victim...

On the 13th of October 2016 at 11:40 A.M. the Greater Sudbury Police Service Break Enter and Robbery (BEAR) unit concluded and investigation resulting in the arrest of a 45 yr old male who was responsible for stealing an enclosed utilitary trailer in the early morning hours on the 5th of October 2016. The trailer and it’s contents have been recovered and returned to the victim.

**UPDATE 4**
Police have arrested two males for attempt murder in relation to this incident.
Police are looking to locate more involved persons. With the recovery of the firearm believed to be the involved weapon; the seizure of the involved vehicle; and, arrest of two suspects, police do not have a concern for public safety relating to this incident.

Motor Vehicle Collision on Lasalle Boulevard towards Notre Dame Avenue

Greater Sudbury Police Service is currently on the scene of a collision involving a motor cycle and a motor vehicle.
The turning lane of Lasalle Boulevard towards the Notre Dame intersection is occupied by emergency vehicles. Sudbury Police are on scene and directing the flow of traffic in both directions.
Greater Sudbury Emergency Services are also on scene at this time.
Motorists are asked to use an alternative route if possible, as there will be delays in the flow of traffic.
Canada Day – Collision Reporting Centre (CRC) Closed

The Collision Reporting Centre will be CLOSED on Canada Day, Friday July 1, 2016. The Collision Reporting Centre will resume normal hours on Saturday, July 2, 2016.
Normal hours of operation are:
Monday to Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Saturday: 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Sunday: 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
