74 Charges Laid in Commercial Motor Vehicle Blitz

The Greater Sudbury Police Traffic Management Unit in partnership with Ontario Provincial Police TIME Team recently conducted a three-day blitz in Greater Sudbury that focused on commercial motor vehicle safety education and enforcement. 

Of 64 traffic stops conducted, 74 charges were laid for the following:

• failing to complete daily inspections
• vehicles being over weight
• not having a commercial motor vehicle operators registration (CVOR) as required
• braking systems not functioning

Requesting assistance to locate 46 year old Brent Liefers - Wanted on 6 outstanding arrest warrants

UPDATE46-year-old, Brent Liefers has been arrested on the six outstanding arrest warrants in relation to Intimate Partner Violence.

He will attend Bail Court today, March 15, 2023 to answer to the charges.

We are requesting the public’s assistance to locate 46-year-old, Brent Liefers as he is wanted on six outstanding arrest warrants for numerous offences in relation to Intimate Partner Violence incidents including;

Two Men Charged with Numerous Firearm Offences After Officer Seize Loaded Gun

Around 10:45 p.m. on February 11, 2023, police were dispatched the area of Elgin Street and Grey Street in relation a Weapons complaint.

Information provided was that two men had approached another individual and one of the men had pulled out a knife.

When officers arrived on scene, community members in the area indicated that the two men were leaving in a vehicle. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and located the two men inside. Upon speaking with the driver, officers noticed...

Around 7:50 p.m. on February 7, 2023, officers were dispatched to a business on National Street in relation to a Break and Enter that had just taken place.

Information provided was that two individuals were located inside the business’s fenced compound attempting to steal a vehicle. They fled on foot prior to police arrival.

Officers conducted a K9 track in the area and while on the track a community member told them there was a man hiding between vehicles on Maley Drive.
