Officers Charge 25 year old Man with Murder After Altercation at Residence on Notre Dame Avenue

Just after 1:50 a.m. this morning, December 23, 2022, officers were dispatched to a residence on Notre Dame Avenue in relation to an Assault that has just taken place.

Information provided was that two men had been in a physical altercation resulting in one of the men sustaining life-threatening injuries. The 20 year old man was transported to the hospital by City of Greater Sudbury Paramedic Services, however, he was unfortunately pronounced deceased by medical professionals.

Two Men Arrested and Charged with Manslaughter After 48 year old Man Dies of Drug Overdose

On December 15, 2022, Detectives from the Major Crime Section of our Criminal Investigation Division with the assistance of the Waterloo Regional Police Service arrested 34 year old Bidah Preet Singh Bhatia of Waterloo for Manslaughter and Trafficking a Schedule I Substance.

Missing Person Mark Giambattista Located Deceased

Around 11:40 p.m. on December 20, 2022, officers were dispatched to Oak Ridge Road after a community member located Mark Giambattista’s truck. Unfortunately, upon arrival officers located Mark deceased.

Our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends. We ask that you respect their privacy during this very difficult time.

We are working in collaboration with the Coroner’s Office and a post mortem will be conducted in order to assist in determining the cause of death.

Introducing New Dynamic Duo: Cst. Vitali and K9 Royal

We are pawsitively thrilled to introduce you to our newest dynamic duo, Constable Vitali and Royal aka “Roy” who are on active duty after completing the 16-week dual purpose Patrol and Detector course with the Halton Regional Police Service. 

Constable Vitali was hired in 2008 and spent the last seven years as a member of our Emergency Response Unit. He was a rappel master and won the hearts of Greater Sudbury’s little heroes as our friendly neighbourhood Spiderman.

Two Individuals Charged in Relation to Assault on Edward Avenue in Coniston

Around 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2022, officers were dispatched the area of Edward Avenue in Coniston in relation to an Assault that has just occurred. Information provided was that three vehicles were used to blocked in a car while the occupants of the three vehicles smashed the windows of the car and assaulted the three people inside.

The three young men, 17, 18 and 18 sustained minor injuries as a result of the attack.
