Police Lay 18 Impaired Charges during Operation Home Safe Initiative

Between March 3rd and 27th 2022, our Traffic Management Unit (TMU) conducted “Operation Home Safe” with the objective of providing public education and awareness on impaired driving through proactive enforcement.
During this time period, Officers laid 18 Operation while Impaired charges - nine impaired by alcohol and nine impaired by drug.
Even one impaired driver is one too many.

Man Arrested and Charged After Weapons Complaint on Spruce Street

Shortly after 7:00 p.m. on March 27, 2022, we received a call regarding a man in emotional distress at a residence on Spruce Street in Greater Sudbury. Information provided was that the man had attended the residence and had been in an altercation with a person inside the home. Additional information provided was that he was in possession of a firearm, as well as, a conducted energy weapon. Deceased Person Located by Firefighters After Residential Fire

Around 9:50 a.m. we received a call from City of Greater Sudbury Fire Services in relation to a deceased person located inside of a residence after Firefighters responded to a residential fire on Tedman Avenue. Information provided was that Firefighters had extinguished the fire in a residential unit and upon clearing the residence, they located a deceased person.
At this time, police are attempting to locate the next of kin, so no further information related to the person’s identity will be provided...
